Diane Paradise is a 14-year, four-time cancer superhero who is dedicated to encouraging, educating and empowering other cancer superheroes. Her experience with treatment covers the gamut: conventional chemotherapy and radiation, naturopathic medicine and integrative. After trying each of these treatments Diane decided naturopathic medicine was the best option for her because it allowed her to maintain a quality of life the other treatments did not. In 2001, a doctor made it clear to her that she would be dead in 12 weeks if she chose naturopathic medicine. Naturopathic medicine may have allowed Diane to maintain a certain quality of life, but it also asked more out of her than other treatments. It asked her to step up and be a part of the process. Her participation led her to feelings of empowerment on this healing journey. In turn, she was inspired to be more consciously awared of her thoughts, feelings and environment (work, friends, stress) and the impact on her health. A non-profit worker most of her professional life, it was natural that Diane would want to use her experience with cancer to help others. Since she began feeling the benefits of lifestyle changes, she has been dedicted to educating fellow cancer superheroes about their options. Diane continues to share her message of empowerment through speaking, life coaching and the creation of her courage-based comic book superhero, Natural Cancer GirlTM. Recently Diane was interviews as part of a PBS special called Discoveries in Alternative Medicine. This segment was produced by the American Health Journal in California and will air for the first time on April 22 in Orange County, Calif. She is the former spokesperson for the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians and has appeared on several radio shows and newspapers, including The New York Times. |
